About the Role
Under the direction of the CEO of Operations, Accounting performs general accounting duties in accordance with prescribed procedures and accounting practices.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
This list of duties and responsibilities is not inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as management may deem necessary from time to time.
1. Maintain accounts payable; verify the accuracy of purchase orders and received inventory; work with Buyer, Vendors, and Receiving Departments to resolve discrepancies.
2. Audit and process credit card statements
3. Request and mail out checks.
4. Maintain accounts receivable; complete customer invoices from packing slips; sort and deposit incoming checks.
5. Maintain hourly payroll system; collect weekly hours from associates and post to correct ledger accounts.
6. Respond to incoming credit checks for new customers; maintain customer cards.
7. Assist with other accounting functions such as taxes, monthly and yearly financial reports.
8. Maintain OSHA logs and records for compliance; process first report of injury for workman’s compensation insurance.
9. Participate in cross functional teams to ensure continuous on-going improvement of processes, methods, productivity and quality, while reducing costs.
10. Comply with all quality, safety and sanitation regulations.
Requirements
Education and Experience:
Requires a minimum of two years of college in Accounting or Finance, or a related field.
Along with 1-2 years of work experience.
Language Skills:
Ability to read and interpret documents (e.g., invoices, deposit slips, manuals)
Ability to write routine reports and business correspondence
Ability to effectively communicate with customers and employees
Proficient in PC applications such as MS Word, Outlook,Excel, PowerPoint, and Access.
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to calculate discounts, interest, and percentages
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to apply common sense to carry out written or oral instructions
Ability to deal with problems involving concrete variables in standardized situations
Physical Demands:
Regularly: Sit; use hands for handling objects/tools; talk and hear
Occasionally: Stand; walk; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
Must occasionally lift/move up to 10 pounds
Requires close vision and the ability to adjust focus
